STEPS TO FOLLOW WHEN MOVING OUT OF YOUR OFFICE

This list can be extensive when you are planning to transition office space. This involves packing, coordinating with movers, and the time-consuming task of cleaning the space.
For most of us, an office move can feel overwhelming when you think about the long list of tasks that needs to take place before and during the transition.
The key to an efficient move is to make sure you are organized so that you are not doubling the workload.
STEP 1: PACKING UP
You should never clean before you pack. Cleaning while you are preparing to move will result in you repeating your cleaning efforts. Doing these both at the same time will result in constant dust from packing materials and dirt from equipment and furniture, and the stirring up of debris.
It is best to immediately relocate the packed equipment, furniture, and boxes to your new office space. If logistics don't allow it, designate an area in the space to neatly stack your packed boxes. A designated space allows you to remain organized and alleviates chaos as employees continue with their day-to-day tasks.
STEP 2: CLEAN FROM TOP TO BOTTOM
When cleaning offices and open areas, you should use the top to bottom and dirtier-to-clean method. You should always begin by removing all spiderwebs and dust. Clean and dust the ceiling, windows shelving, reception area(s), mopping, vacuuming, and floorboards, making repairs as you move along.
STEP 3: DIRTY TO CLEAN
Normally when we clean, we tend to do the dirtiest room (bathrooms) and move to the cleaner. However, during a move-out, employees will continue to utilize the bathrooom and the kitchen areas until lights out.
The bathroom and kitchen areas are the spaces that require the most attention and are also the spaces that landlords tend to pay the most attention.
Once you are ready to clean these areas, you should use the top to bottom method to avoid doubling your efforts.
Kitchen - Dust the ceiling and high areas, do not forget the top of the refrigerator, corners, switches, and knobs. After you have dusted and wiped down all areas from top to bottom, then move to sweep and mop the floors. Do not forget the corners.
Bathroom - Dust the ceiling and high areas. Clean mirrors, toilets (don't forget the base), sinks, light switches, door handles, and sweep and mop. Be sure to make sure you don't leave behind smudges and give the place a good shine.
